REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2019 IS NOW CLOSED

 

Keep your eyes on this page for information about winter training. Registration opens mid-October on RegattaCentral. New rowers welcome!

 

HIGH SCHOOL RACING TEAM

 

What: Reach High’s High School Racing Team offers competitive training and regional racing opportunities for high school athletes. Novice (new) rowers are welcome! Rowers will be training for the 5000 meter head race distance (see race schedule). Rowers are expected to attend and participate fully in all practices and regattas, which will include on water time, training on the ergs (rowing machines), running, and circuit training.    

 

Who:  Students entering 9th through 12th grade; 8th graders by invitation

When: Thursday, August 29, 2019 to Friday, November 1, 2019

Practices Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, from 4:30-6:30 PM; Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Where: Baltimore Community Rowing Boathouse, 3301 Waterview Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21230

Cost:  $600. Scholarships are available for Baltimore City Public School students; please contact rowreachhigh@gmail.com for details.

Swim Test:  All Reach High rowers must complete a swim test in the presence of a certified life guard and submit a Swim Test Verification Form. An opportunity to participate in a swim test will be offered at the beginning of the fall season (date TBD).  Alternately, a swim test may be completed independently in the presence of a certified life guard and submitted. The Swim Test Verification Form is available for download below. No rower will be allowed on the water without a completed Swim Test Verification Form on file.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ROWING

 

What:  Reach High’s Middle School Rowing Program offers instruction in the sport of rowing for new and experienced middle school athletes. We focus on providing our middle school rowers with a solid introduction to physical fitness, flexibility, and the specifics of the rowing stroke, while sparking a life-long appreciation of spending time on the water in their community. Novice (new) rowers are welcome! Practices will include on water time, training on the ergs (rowing machines), running, and circuit training.  Middle school rowers may participate in a novice scrimmage at the discretion of the coaches.

 

Who:  Students entering 6th through 8th grade

When: Monday, September 9, 2019 to Friday, November 1, 2019

Practices Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, from 4:30-6:30 PM
